Question: After ages of the nice americans complaining about BP isn't it only right we can blame them for something else?

( Back )

Answer #1:

Until America cleans up Bhopal and compensates the victims, complaining about BP is sheer hypocrisy.

Answer #2:

wasn't it shoddy American contractors working for BP who caused the explosion in the first place?

Answer #3:

Lol, yes lets give BP its life back. Lets completely exhonerate BP from any responsibility. I remember in the 80's or early 90's BP promoting itself as "Beyond Petroleum". Great marketing, nothing else. If this crushes the company it should be allowed to die, no propped up by either the British or US Governments.

Answer #4:

It’s got more to do with stretching resources
And grabbing drilling right before your competitors do

Answer #5:

God bless the USA. We are still the shining light on the hill. Take your shots at us, until you need us. We are what you should all strive to be.

Answer #6:

Despite all the stick BP has been getting it seems that so far only the Transocean contractors who were actually responsible for the rig and had the ultimate responsibility for safety have been named as 'persons of interest' in the investigation. The usual maritime rules apply, if you are the captain no one not even the owner can over-rule you on safety. Someone in the US operation does need to explain why the safety protocol appears to have been done by a lazy junior staff member and the US regulator needs to tighten up on over-sight and not just accept the oil companies word for things.

It is ironic that Tony Hayward and his Chief Engineer US Andy Inglis were pursuing a policy of safety first, having inherited a rather slacker regime from Lord Browne. Hayward had frequently cited the death of a young worker in Venezuela as focusing his attention on preventing accidents, before everything else.
There has been a great deal of American chauvinism in this whole mess, with congressmen playing to the gallery as usual.

Answer #7:

Their Armed Forces do tend to kill ours.
