Question #4:

The city shut off our electricity!?

We've been wealthy until my parents invested $100,000 in the stock market last week and lost so much money. It was a mistake, and we shouldn't have owed anything since we payed the full amount last month. And we won't be able to pay it for a few days since my Dad isn't done with a job yet, so I'm really worried about no electricity. He said he might just write a check and hope it doesn't bounce before he gets payed for the job he is working on. I can't believe I'm poor now! This sucks!!

Question #6:

Advice on Careers for Business Management?

Hey, I am currently a freshmen at a community college. I will be transferring to UC Santa Cruz in the Fall of '11. I have a transfer admissions agreement with them, where I will pursue my goal and major in Business Management.

My question is, I am currently undecided on a career. I know it may be a bit early, but I always want to look ahead.

I've loved the game of basketball forever, particularly the NBA, and would love to work for the business side of the Association. Marketing, advertising, dealing with salaries, etc. I know a lot about the salaries and numbers part of the NBA, and have always been interested in those type of areas.

With that said, my question is, what would you recommend as a potential career in the Business Management field - preferably in the field of sports?

I was thinking about getting an internship with the Developmental League of the NBA.

Any advice and input would be much appreciated. Please and thank you!

Question #7:

Can I work in a movie theater if I'm in my mid 20s,with a marketing degree but very small job experience?

Or do they generally prefer younger ages since it's a starter job?
I know marketing has nothing to do with a movie theater but that's where I'd like to work.Money is not a big issue for me.

Question #8:

Overqualified? Bad economy? What to do!?

My wife and I have been searching nationally now, and it's getting crazy. I work in intercollegiate athletics, have interned at the my universities basketball team, marketing department, intramaural sports department, and have experience throughout most athletic department skillsets. I am specifically looking for a jof working in intercollegiate sports, pro-sports, or education. I have also worked abroad as an English instructor in China, taught as an adjunct professor at my university, and have a wealth of volunteer work ranging from being a youth pastor to working as a P.E. Coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club.

But I can't even get a call back. I am literally in the black hole of job hunting, and I really don't see taking on another internship or getting even more education as an option, being that I already have two degrees (B.A. in Sports MGT. and MKT, M.S. in Sports Administration), and I'm 29. What gives, am I being stingy, not looking hard enough, or is it just an "economy" thing? I want to provide for my wife so we can start a family, but it's just not possible right now.

Any advice?

Question #9:

Do some people realize why Obama wants to levy taxes on certain products (junk food, tobacco, etc.)?

I understand the Conservative argument regarding freedom as it relates to the government taxing free market goods, but the fact is, government has to pay for the health costs of persons who don't have insurance but consume these unhealthy market goods. I don't think Obama wants to strip away freedoms from people, but he is looking for ways to curb the costs that government inherits because of the public's recklessness. The Conservative cry out freedom and liberty, but never remedy any of these things that are burdening the nation. How much freedom will you have in a bankrupt country?

Bush did nothing to fix health care. Regan did nothing to fix health care. All they did was continue to fund the programs created under the Great Society by piling up debt we'll never pay off. Obama is at least trying to pay for some of America's recklessness.

The truth is, America's welfare programs aren't going away. Bush, Reagan, Nixon, Ford, and Senior Bush didn't roll back any of them. So it's fine for Conservatives to marshal up antipathy over government involving itself in the free market, but the government has to pay for the victims of the FREE MARKET. Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush, and Bush Jr. spend billions and billions of dollars on social health care programs to care for people who feel victim to fatty foods, tobacco, and alcohol, yet none of them broadcasted any way to resolve the trend, which is what Obama is trying to do.

Question #12:

why do you think all religions seem to...?

require the participation of multiple people to survive?
why does it have to be a mass market kind of deal?

with all of these "spiritual" people, you would expect that they would come to their own sense of morality, one that is defined by their circumstances, instead of a program designed for multiple people.

i just find it odd, that all religions speak of universal truths, and yet contradict eachother,.
then also in simmilar strokes, say that your path is your own path, and no one elses, and you cant say what is right to others. "to each his own" or "thou shall not judge" etc...
